i'm never going to fly

we were just taking off and the captain was explaining how everything was perfect for this flight. i was as calm as i’ve ever been and his voice was soothing like a doctors just as they’re starting to turn on the happy gas. seatbelt buckled and ready to go, i was starting to day dream about the things to come once we land. just as we were about to make it over the city illuminated at night, i saw something in the pilot’s eyes. things were not ok. like an action movie with extreme camera angles, i could see the parking lot where he was going to try and put it down at. it was full of cars. he can’t be serious. there were buildings surrounding the lot, the angle of decline would have to be drastic. he tried once, and nearly took the wings off.

we were in the air again, but it didn’t seem like we would be able to maintain flight for much longer. he swung the airliner around to try the same parking lot again. i could see us approaching it. we were coming in to fast and i could see fire.

i shut my eyes expecting the worst.

i sat up in bed looking around, sweating.

what the fuck just happened and why were the seats also urinals when you lifted up the cusion?

Quick question of the day! Can you come up with a non-scientific response as to why the sky is blue? Reflection of the ocean doesn't count.

The sky is blue for the same reason Kodachrome doesn’t exist anymore: chemical pollution. Both are a damn shame. And it’s not really blue. We just perceive it as blue. Camera obscura causes us to see everything upside down, our brain just flips it over for us. Color obscura causes us to see the opposites of colors (kind of like a photo-negative), and our mind just corrects it the same way it does for camera obscura.

Living in Ohio, I usually only see gray when I look up. But, I’ll trust that when you look up, the color that you perceive is blue.

I know you said non-scientific. But even though I answered it scientifically, it’s still fiction (or bullshit).

I like to read a lot, but at a leisurely pace. I like to dissect the things I read so it takes time. Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and Winesburg, Ohio are some of my favorites. The Snows of Kilimanjaro is my favorite Hemingway story.
